When a fire engine or an ambulance approaches an automated vehicle, there is no agreed way for the two to communicate. This session covers what happens today, how vehicles detect sirens and clear the way, what a responder can do at the scene when a vehicle is in the way, and what is being built to make that interaction predictable. It also takes up the open question of whether this ends up as a published standard that applies everywhere or a set of agreements worked out city by city.
